Kidney transplant cost in India for Bangladeshi patients
Bangladesh is by far the largest source of medical travellers to India. Kolkata, Chennai and Vellore are the usual destinations, and the Indian visa is free for Bangladeshi nationals.
What it costs, and where else you could go
India compared with the two markets patients most often price against. All figures are typical self-pay private ranges, in US dollars.
| Where | Typical price | Difference vs India |
|---|---|---|
| India | $13,000β$20,000 | β |
| United States (private) | $150,000β$300,000 | up to $287,000 more |
| United Kingdom (private) | $100,000β$200,000 | up to $187,000 more |
We do not publish a price for Bangladesh itself, because no reliable published price list exists for private treatment there. Where the procedure is available locally, ask your own hospital for a written estimate and compare it against the Indian quotation we send you. Figures here are indicative and are not a quotation.
Your visa, in short
The rules that apply specifically to Bangladeshi patients, taken from High Commission of India, Dhaka.
Which visa and what it costs
Bangladesh is e-Visa eligible, so you can apply online for an e-Medical visa. All Indian visas for Bangladeshi nationals are issued free of charge β the e-Medical and e-Medical Attendant fees are both US$0 in the official fee table. The IVAC centre levies its own handling charge, which we could not confirm from an official page; ask at the centre before paying.
Attendants and vaccinations
Bangladesh is the only country allowed THREE medical attendants on the paper Medical Attendant (MED-X) visa, free of charge, co-terminus with the patient's visa. Important: if you use the e-Visa route instead, the limit drops to TWO.
Bangladesh is not on India's yellow fever endemic list and not on the polio-affected list, so neither certificate is required.
The free e-Medical visa cannot be used to enter by land
An e-Visa is only valid at designated airports and seaports. If you plan to cross overland at Benapole/Haridaspur or Gede β as many patients from Bangladesh do β you must use the paper MED visa with the correct route endorsement, not the e-Medical visa.
